Archbishop Ryan, Lower Merion and Saint Joe's Prep Recaps

Archbishop Ryan

The Vikings went into Archbishop Ryan for the First PCL and first match of the season!  They came away with a 3-0 Win.  While Ryan is only fielding a Varsity this year the JV players all contributed, taking the first set from the Raiders by a score of 25-20.  Varsity took the court next and continued to play well taking set 2 25-8.  Going into the third all players ended up playing in a total team effort to finish the match 25-16.  It was a great start to our season!

Lower Merion

Taking on an IVL opponent for the first time Wood didn't know what to expect from the Aces. Lower Merion proved to be a nice test for the Vikings as the match was won by a total of 7 points.  Lower Merion played some great defense and kept putting the ball back and challenging the Vikings to make a play.  Defensively Wood held up against a 6'8" middle hitter with a strong swing and managed 13 blocks on the day. Wood came up with it's first win against a Suburban team 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-23)

Saint Joe's Prep

This was the original PCL opener but Mother nature had other ideas!  The snow postponed the match to the following Thursday.  The visiting Hawks came into Wood looking for their first win but would not be so lucky.  The Vikings came out strong winning the first set 25-8.  Prep managed to make up for some unforced errors in the first and make it a closer game dropping the set 25-15.  Wood came back in the third looking to close the match out and took them 25-13.

Wood has their next match vs Cardinal O'Hara Wednesday at Home 5:45 JV and 7 V
