Friday evening Archbishop Wood once again traveled to Delaware County, this time to take on Bonner-Prendie in PCL action. After a short walk from the bus drop off to Prendie's gym the Vikings got to work. It stated with the JV team where brand new setter Chris Montague did an excellent job running the offense. Newly back from injury Sean Emrich took no time in making an impact by having a nearly perfect passing and hitting to lead the way in the win vs the Friars. The Vikings played great all the way getting solid performances from Ian Fresca and Chris Baker at middle, Colt Shaw at opposite and Liam McTigue at Libero. JV is now 2-2 on the season.
In Varsity action the Vikings wasted little time with their AA counterparts taking the match 3-0 (25-10, 25-11, 25-15). Among the best for Wood on the night was Adian Clinton with kills from the outside and the back row. Going up against many blocks Clinton seemed to be unstoppable all night. As the match progressed on the Vikings got into a rhythm and started playing some more sophisticated volleyball running plays and stifling the Bonner defense. Sam Thiers also had a great contribution from the outside as well and really stepped up defensively on a few plays that kept Wood alive and the play going.
The Vikings look forward to their next match on Monday at Cardinal O'Hara (4:00 JV and 5:30 V)
