On a rainy Friday evening Archbishop Wood played host to the Cahillites of Roman Catholic High School. This would provide to be a pivotal match up as Wood was down a few players due to injury and Roman Catholic was back to full strength with their line up. Roman coming off 5 set losses to Bonner and Prep were looking for a win, but it seemed as though Wood had other ideas. The first 2 sets wood got outstanding performances from the two middles Robby Russell and Joe Lostracco. Scores of 25-22, 25-18 seemed to put the Vikings on the offensive and ready to close out the match.
Roman would have other ideas, they stormed out in game three to take the set 25-18. Continuing their momentum they used a variety of swings and shots to keep Wood on their heels and took a close 4th set 25-22. The final set was a see-saw battle that saw the score tip to Roman's Favor 15-11.
Roman Catholic owns a 2-3 record and will continue next week with a rematch against Bonner. Wood meanwhile drops to 4-1 on the season while still holding on to second place in the PCL. Wood will take on Saint Joseph's Prep at Home Monday and Archbishop Ryan on Wednesday, then all schools break for Easter!
