Monday evening Archbishop Wood began the second half of it's PCL schedule by hosting the Hawks of Saint Joe's Prep. Looking to rebound from the loss to Roman Catholic the previous Friday the Vikings came out a strong start and put Prep on the defensive. The first game saw great action not only on offense but on defense as we got many blocks from Joe LoStracco in the middle. The defense also kept quite a few more balls alive which allowed the Vikings to convert more points. Prep could not seem to get it's touch down with hitting which plagued them all night. At the end of the first set it was 25-14.
The second set was more of the same as the Vikings rolled through to a 25-17 score. While the third set proved to be much more of a challenge. Wood jumped out to a fast lead but the Hawks slowly chipped away at the lead and eventually took over and won the set 25-20. After dropping a set, the Vikings wasted no time getting back to the game plan and took set 4 25-18. The win improves the Vikings to 5-1 PCL and puts the Hawks at 3-5. Wood will be back in action Wednesday evening at Archbishop Ryan.
